Tips for Healthy Hair
Maintaining a healthy and lustrous hair is really tough. Especially in this polluted and busy world. Hair is getting more spoiled and less cared. We don’t have enough time to even wash hair twice a week. So, the one time we wash it must count, and that is what rice water is there for. There are different ways to produce rice water which are listed below.
A. Un-fermented Rice Water
- Take half a cup of uncooked rice in a bowl.
- Add 2 to 3 cups of water to this and soak it well.
- Wash the rice twice by draining the water.
- Soak it for the third time with water and leave it be.
- Let the rice soak for 30-45 minutes.
- To check if its done, feel if the water has become cold and white in colour.
- This means that all the minerals and vitamins have seeped into the water.
- Take the rice water in a bowl and pour it on your scalp to the roots.
- Make sure it has covered all parts of your head and hair.
- Massage well and then put on a shower cap.
- Leave it be for 10-15 minutes.
- Wash it off with mild shampoo and conditioner later.
- One can add any essential oil of their choice to the water to add fragrance.
- Take half a cup of uncooked rice in a bowl.

- Wash the rice twice by draining the water.
- Soak it for the third time with water and leave it be.
- Let the rice soak for 30-45 minutes.
- To check if it’s done, feel if the water has become cold and white in colour.

- Leave this water in a bowl or bottle for 12-24 hours.
- It will turn ghost white which means it has fermented.
- One must definitely add essential oil with the water before applying, as fermented rice water can smell.
- Take the fermented rice water in a bowl and pour it on your scalp to the roots.
- Make sure it has covered all parts of your head and hair.
- Massage well and then put on a shower cap.
- Leave it be for 10-15 minutes.
- Wash it off with mild shampoo and conditioner later.
- Use more water if you have dry hair, less you have oily hair.
- Take half a cup of uncooked rice in a bowl.
- Add 2 to 3 cups of water to this and soak it well.
- Boil the water and extract the excess water in a separate bowl.
- One can also allow it to cook fully and strain the water.
- The water will be in a cloudy white colour, make sure to add essential oil.
- Take the boiled rice water in a bowl and pour it on your scalp to the roots.
- Make sure it has covered all parts of your head and hair.
- Massage well and then put on a shower cap.
- Leave it be for 10-15 minutes.
- Wash it off with mild shampoo and conditioner later.
